A 16-year-old who repeatedly hacked apple servers evaded prison, He is set to serve a probation period of 8 months. He stored the collected ‘sensitive’ data in a folder named ‘hacky hack hack.’He got himself enrolled in a University where he is pursuing criminology and cyber safety course.
The teenager is accused of downloading 90TB of files from Apple servers including customer accounts. He managed to grab hold of “authorized keys” which could allow access to user accounts.
After the incident, Apple told The Guardian that no personal data has been compromised, and their security professionals responded to the threat posed by the hacker.
The hacker has pleaded guilty and no conviction has been recorded against him after charges were pressed by FBI and Australian Federal Police. The magistrate who announced the verdict said, “Your offending is serious. It was sustained, sophisticated, and a successful attack on the security of a major multinational corporation.”
